Episode 9 - The NextGen Digital Lifestyle

Exceptional Innovation's Life|ware system uses media storage and CAT-5e/6 or wireless home networking to merge home control, like lighting, thermostats and security systems with digital entertainment, including 1080p broadcasts over blue wire. The system is controlled through touch screens and also through your TV. In part one, we'll hear the specs and in part two, we'll go inside the NextGen home.

The problem in existing homes will be the cost of installing cat5 or 6 cabling. Other than that home networking is great!

Actually . . . you could use Powerline Ethernet and skip the CAT5.  It's been around for about 10 years.  I've been using it for about a year.  The one from Netgear will get you about 85MB.  Works great.

I wonder if WSD will be available anytime soon with Powerline.

Good to see this on the web.  Problem we have seen for the last 5 years is price not technology.  A comment to all who view this.  Wireless is fast and easy, but NOT secure and can fail and not recover.  Better to have a well designed wired network that can respond to a mouse bite path loss than a malware generated RF problem that knocks out everything including your security system.  Dealer/installer fixes are available from venders like Synergy Concepts, Inc., ID is required.
