Robots playing soccer my not seem like a huge accomplishment, until you see DARWIN. Short for Dynamic Anthropomorphic Robot With INtelligence, this robot can track a ball and respond to it's movement, all the while under it's own programmed autonomy.

    I was at the RoboCup 2007 in Atlanta.  The Darwin robots and the 2 on 2 humanoid competitions where they competed were arguably the most popular robots and competitions at this year's show.  

    Large crowds gathered after each round .... and it was like a sports atmosphere with people going nuts after each goal score and after each impressive block.
