The &lt;a href="http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/de/en/cas/cas/themes/products/electronic_brake_and_safety_systems/driver_assistance_systems/radar_and_infrared_technology_en.html" target="_blank"&gt;adaptive cruise control system&lt;/a&gt; works on the basis of &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radar" target="_blank"&gt;radar&lt;/a&gt; (77 GHz radar according to the pulse modulated &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doppler_radar" target="_blank"&gt;Doppler principle&lt;/a&gt; for independent measurement of speed and distance) or &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infrared" target="_blank"&gt;infrared signals&lt;/a&gt;.
